Revelation : The Art of Salvation

The last chapter !

The talented  hagiographer, Fani Kalamari (Φανη Καλαμαρη), sent me today the final photos, showcasing the completion of her unique "Vision of John" byzantine icon 

The artist included in her painting all main characters and elements from the Book of Revelation in an attempt to give a deeper, metaphorical, and spiritual meaning to the composition. 

Shades of blue interchanged with shades of yellow, gold, and brown, while beautiful hints of pastel colors made their appearance. 

The artist paid special attention to details for each one of the 12 Revelation characters creating smaller masterpiece inside the final composition 

The dimensions of the icon follow the Golden Ratio logarithm . The icon was painted on a 30 X 20 inches wood panel after special preparation  of the wood with gesso. 

At the end,  the hagiographer applied a layer of varnish, revealing even more vividly the beautiful colors used for the creation of this sacred icon
