The talented master luthier Christos Spourdalakis, added recently to his professional bouzouki-production-line the replica of D. Mourtzinos trichordo. Scale: 67 cm

Six months ago the luthier had revealed in an interview on this blog, the possession of two old molds ( soundboard and bowl) dating more than 80 years agoowned by the famous luthier Demetrios Mourtzinos or his disciple Gregory Apartian.

From his workshop page  ( http://www.music-instruments.gr) we learn that this new and  beautiful line of bouzoukia, comes with two types of sound holes, an oval and a round carrying a carved wooden rosette

The neck has been reinforced with carbon fiber and the bouzouki is being constructed using the Neorion technique.
The decoration is being made by maple-pernambuco on rosewood background & mother of pearl inlays on fingerboard

I would characterize the sound of the  D. Mourtzinos trichordo replica as very sweet, mostly in the spectrum of treble-mids, bright and dry, with a hint of metallic/husky timbre of a bygone era, and with a beautiful sustain. Truly exceptional old-rebetiko sound.

You can hear a sample of the instrument's sound at the end of the following video (time lapse 7:10)
