The master luthier Giannis Kadoglou

An underdog luthier placed on the pantheon of mastering the lutherie art  !

Giannis Kadoglou (https://m.facebook.com/Kadoglou.Luthiery/) is possibly the unexpected greatest surprise I had , during the new era of Greek traditional Lutherie art !

To me , Giannis is a luthier who constructs string musical instruments infused by the passion, the skills,  the aesthetics and the craftsmanship similar to the greatest Greek luthiers of 19 th century as Dimitrios Mourtzinos. 

 I had written in the past and throughout this blog, great reviews regarding new upcoming luthiers, their talent and the skills they possess, but I never have written before a powerful statement as the one above !

Giannis reminds us how two talented hands, few only hand tools, and hundred of hours in the making, can revive the quality,  and the aroma of superb musical instrument making !

The luthier is constructing only few custom musical instruments per year (counted on one hand). He is using old woods and highest quality materials 

Recently, a new journey has started inspired by the great soloist Iordanis Tsomidis’ Onnik Tsakirian bouzouki

The luthier sent me today photos from the construction of the bowl, made by old walnut wood (with beautiful grain), and ebony wood.
