Part V- The Odyssey of recreating an A. Stathopoulos original hard case
The very long, but beautiful and captivated journey has finally come to an end!
The talented luthier, and custom hard-case maker, Pantelis Agkistriotis , (http://kavouki.com/ ) has finalized the construction of the two (2) 1910s hard-cases replicas.
The journey, which lasted 8 full months, accompanied by an intense research around the globe, and the valuable help by Steve Kirtley , musician, researcher and a living cyclopedia regarding vintage musical instrument cases. Steve casted most of the necessary light needed to define the manufacturer, materials, shape, and hardware used for the creation of 1910s Anastasios Stathopoulos bouzouki cases
The A. Stathopoulos exact bouzouki case replica, was an attempt to revive the forgotten history of bouzouki cases, and the utilization ( as much as possible) of the same techniques and materials used back in 1910s. During the construction of this particular case, Pantelis Agkistriotis tried to match as much as possible the original specs, and reproduced every possible detail of hardware and raw materials down to the recreation of the blurred A. Stathopoulos label seen in A. Stathopoulos catalogue.
I hope, now that the bouzouki cases have been completed , other owners and collectors of historical musical instruments of that era, will follow my footsteps recreating the 1910s-1920s vibe, and giving the "original home" to their beloved vintage instruments!
And since an even older 1900s- Historical bouzouki is recently under restoration (by the talented luthier and friend Chris Pantazelos), Pantelis Agkistriotis will soon be called once again, for the creation of an older "coffin style" this time bouzouki case!
Stay tuned !
