The "Politiko" bouzouki
The time machine stopped at 1890s!
My latest bouzouki project, will carry the flavor and the aroma of "Poli" ( Constantinople- Istanbul).
Luthier's (Tasos Theodorakis) strong influences from Constantinople (Istanbul), in combination with his passion and talent in instrument making, will play a key role bringing into life, this hybrid bouzouki.
This latest instrument, which its design will be kept as a sweet surprise until the end of its completion, takes elements from the bouzouki ancestors before 1900s {as the tamboura and the laouto (lute)}.
The luthier and I, kept vividly in our mind, during the designing process, the idea that this instrument could have been made, by the hands of an unknown luthier, who lived and worked somewhere in the coast line of Asian Minor, or the narrow streets of Istanbul, in the years before 1900s.
Tasos Theodorakis very carefully chose the raw materials, and woods, necessary for the creation of the "Politiko Bouzouki".
He sent me three photos, from the "wild", untreated elements, of bone, horn, mother of pearl, and domestic old mulberry woods .
