The Beautiful Stathopoulos bowl
"Good things take time"!
In this case, the creation of the highly anticipated A/I Stathopoulos bowl took an additional two months, but the results worth the long waiting.
The fifteen beautiful staves, created by old Indian Rosewood and curly Maple wood, have been separated by the luthier with wooden marquetry fillets.
An aesthetic approach found in old bouzouki instruments, made by Ioannis Stathopoulos before 1900s.
The luthier created a unique design of capping strip (kolantza), with sharp corners/points,which will be highlighted, when the wooden marquetry fillets will be placed around it.
Luthier's next step is to clean the bowl from glue, to scrap and sand it inside out, bringing out all of its enchanting beauty.
Giannis sent me some photos illustrating the creation of the bowl just before and after he took it out of the mold.
