Wooden fillets
Inspired by old traditional instruments!
One of the most common characteristics on the old-rebetiko bouzouki, is the creation of wooden marquetry fillets at the perimeter of the instrument's sound board.
This decoration style can be found in the majority of the old instruments, created by the famous Anastasio Sthathopoulo of NY,Theodoro Karabas of NY, George Evagelides and Dimitri Mourtzino.Inspired perhaps by the trim decoration of Neapolitan mandolins, this wooden marquetry definitely brings a pre-war era to my trixordo.
